| Frequently asked questions |
| This puppy, is one of most common
to Quebec. Shih-Tzu is a very general-purpose dog, it adapts easily to the
life of its Master. It is a good dog of family in general. On the other
hand, it should be made sure that the pup chosen, comes parents
not-aggressive, because several of Shih-Tzu which we know at present, have
of the ancestors Lhassa Apso, which little to give him a certain
aggressiveness. Indeed, these 2 races resembles each other so much that it
is not easy to differentiate them. However, Lhassa Apso with a personality
much more dominant and aggressive that Shih Tzu. Shih Tzu does not lose
much hair, it thus can, to be appropriate for a person who has light an
allergy to the hair. It with the reputation not to be easy to put
clean, it will be necessary to be persevering. A good complete brushing
per week should be enough. Its eyes run, which makes him ring under the
eyes, it will have to be cleaned some times per week. It asks for a
maintenance of 3-4 shearings per year. At least, a “trime” with the
scissors to the 2, 3 months. |

| This compact puppy resembling Lhassa Apso is
equipped with an abundant doubled fleece with long hair of a woolly
undercoat. The hair which leaves the nose is directed to the top and forms
a curious drawing in the shape of chrysanthemum. The head is round with a
provided beard and moustache, a short and hairy chamfer and a black
truffle (except in the dogs with the dress liver which have truffle of
this color). The stop is well defined. The eyes, dark at the major part of
the subjects, except the dogs with the dress liver or blue, broad, round
and are spaced. The hanging ears are so hairy that they are based with the
dress. If the jaw lower is not prognathe, the teeth must be articulated
out of scissors. The dorsal line is right and the body slightly longer
than the height with the garrot. The withdrawal of the pins is optional.
The heavily fringed tail is well rolled up on the back. All the colors are
allowed but a white list and the end of the tail of this color is
particularly appreciated. |

| History |
| Shih Tzu or “dog lion”
probably goes down from crossings between Lhassa Apsos Tibetans imported
into China at the 17th century and Pekinese the autochtones. Shih Tzu were
the favourites of the imperial Palate of China. The race if was venerated
that when the Chinese started to make trade with the West, they refused to
sell or to even exchange these puppies during many years. It is only
towards 1930 that the first couple was imported into England. Shih Tzu was
recognized in Great Britain in 1946, and by the AKC in the United States
in 1969. Nowadays, the race is very popular, as well like dog of company
as like dog of contest. |
